Prepare the armature.
I begin by grinding the bottom
of the armatures as flat as
possible (this is an optional
step, depending on how the tree
is to be "planted")
The armature is placed in a vise.
A small hole is drilled with a
1/16"
drill bit approximately 1/2"
deep.
This is an optional step depending
on how the tree will be "planted".
A small amount of contact cement
is placed on the brad
and inserted into the hole in
the armature.
A small amount of poly fiber is
stretched as thin as possible
before attaching to armature.
Apply white glue sparingly at
various points on the branches.
Apply small amount of poly fiber
until you are satisfied with the
effect.

Apply hairspray to the poly fiber
until well saturated,
starting at bottom with the underside
of the fiber,
then spraying the top.
Holding the armature over your
container of fine turf,
sprinkle bottom of the tree, then
the tops until
desired effect is reached. Spray
again with hairspray to set.
Let it dry for
a couple of minutes, Tap off the
extra flock into a container.
Give the tree another light coat
of hairspray to help keep it all
in place.
The finished product is ready
to be placed on your layout or
diorama.
